BJP has returned to power with a bang in the Gujarat assembly elections.

Gujarat Election Results 2022: Muslim-dominated assembly constituencies also played an important role in BJP's resounding victory in Gujarat assembly elections.

It is a different matter that the saffron party has not fielded a single Muslim candidate in the elections.

In the trends so far, the ruling party seems to be winning in place of the Congress in many Muslim-dominated seats in the state.

The BJP is leading in 12 out of 17 seats in the populous state.

This number is six more than in the year 2017.

The Congress has got an edge only in these seats.

The special thing is that most of these seats have been dominated by the Congress.

For example, the Muslim-dominated Dariapur seat has been held by the Congress for 10 years, where Congress candidate Ghiyasuddin Shaikh lost to BJP's Kaushik Jain.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), in more than a dozen of these Muslim-dominated seats, has failed to win or win any of these seats.

However, Arvind Kejriwal's party AAP and Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM have worked to divide the traditional votes going to Congress in these seats.

AIMIM fielded 13 candidates, out of which two were non-Muslims, who worked to divide Congress votes in Jamalpur-Khadia and Vadgam seats.

Imran Khedawala is trailing from Jamalpur-Khadia seat and Jignesh Mevani from Vadman seat by a narrow margin.

Significantly, in Gujarat's trends so far, BJP is leading on 157 seats, while it has left the opposition parties Congress and Aam Aadmi Party far behind.

While the Congress is currently leading in only 17 seats, Arvind Kejriwal's AAP is ahead in only five seats.

Being the home state of PM Modi, the whole country was watching the results of Gujarat.
