BJP leading in more than 150 seats in Gujarat

New Delhi :

Gujarat Election Results 2022: BJP has returned to power with a thumping victory in Gujarat assembly elections.

In the state's trends so far, BJP is leading on 157 seats while it has left the opposition parties Congress and Aam Aadmi Party far behind.

While the Congress is currently leading in only 16 seats, Arvind Kejriwal's AAP is ahead in only five seats.

In terms of vote share, the BJP has so far secured 53 per cent vote share, which is almost four per cent more than the 49.1 in the 2017 assembly elections.

Congress is around 27 per cent vote share.

There has been a significant decline in comparison to the vote share of 41.4 per cent last time.

In the 2017 assembly elections, the Congress had won 77 seats.

Let us tell you, in the general elections of the year 2019, BJP had won all the 26 parliamentary seats in Gujarat and its vote share was 62.21 while Congress failed to open its account in the state with a vote share of 32.11 at that time.

Talking about Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party, in the 2017 assembly elections, the deposits were forfeited on all its seats.

This time its performance can be considered better than last time because its vote percentage has reached close to 13 percent in 2022.

However, AAP's claim of proving to be an alternative to the Congress in Gujarat and forming the government in the state has been shattered.

AAP convenor Kejriwal had staked claim to form the government in the state but the party has not been able to reach even double digit number of seats.

Aam Aadmi Party candidates are currently leading on five seats.

Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Amit Shah had set a target of 140 seats for the BJP in Gujarat, which the party has easily crossed.
