The average level of hourly labor costs in the countries of the European Union in 2020 was 28.9 euros, reports Eurostat.

The lowest such costs, expressed in euros, were recorded in Bulgaria - 6.6 euros per hour, and they were slightly higher in Romania (8.2 euros) and Hungary (9.8 euros), reports BTA . 

The leader is Luxembourg with 47.7 euros per hour, followed by Denmark (45.7 euros) and Belgium (40.5 euros).

The level of hourly labor costs in Luxembourg was 7.3 times higher than in Bulgaria.

In 2016, an even more significant difference was reported between the EU country with the highest level of hourly labor costs and the one with the lowest.

Then in Denmark it was 9.5 times higher than in Bulgaria.

Hourly labor costs in the EU in 2021 ranged from 7 to 47 euros, lowest in Bulgaria

Differences among EU countries are significantly smaller when hourly labor costs are expressed in purchasing power standards (PPS), an indicator that takes into account price differences in individual countries.

And according to this indicator, hourly labor costs are lowest in Bulgaria (11.9 points) and highest in Luxembourg (36.1 points).
