A new package of EU

sanctions

against Russia for its aggression against Ukraine may be adopted this Friday, December 9.

The package includes a number of proposals presented by Poland with the support of Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.

Andrzej Sados, Permanent Representative of Poland to the EU, said this at a conference in Brussels.

"We are significantly expanding the list of so-called dual-use goods. We are expanding the list of people who work for the Russian military machine. We are introducing a ban on investments in

Russia's mining industry.

We are adding to the sanctions lists almost 200 people and organizations, including those involved in the heinous practices of

abduction and transportation of Ukrainian children;

those involved in the theft of Ukrainian grain," said Andrzej Sados.

He also emphasized that each subsequent package of EU sanctions against Russia will be adapted to the current situation, because the Russian side is trying to circumvent the sanctions and adapt to the current regime of restrictions.

"Of course, we prevent this by, among other things, adding to the sanctions lists goods of the civilian sector that could potentially be used in Russia's military actions," Sados explained.

The diplomat noted that the ninth package of EU sanctions introduced against Russia will contain additional provisions banning the export of aviation industry products to Russia.

In particular, we are talking about drone engines.

Andrzej Sados drew attention to the attempts of some member states to remove from the sanctions lists certain persons or organizations against which evidence was gathered that they work for the Russian military effort.

Work on the sanctions package is still ongoing.

It will be recalled that the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, called on the European Union

to introduce sanctions against everything that can help Russia manufacture missiles with

which it fires Ukrainian infrastructure.

As US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated,

some sanctions imposed against Russia may remain in force even after the end of the war

and the signing of a peace agreement between the Russian Federation and Ukraine.

Earlier, the president of the European Commission stated that

the eight packages of sanctions that were introduced earlier against the Russian Federation already have a painful effect on the aggressor.
