[Reporter Wang Guanren/Taipei Report] Recently, the signal light cable on the sidewalk near Tianmu West Road in Taipei City fell for no reason and affected the nearby traffic. The engineering agency sent personnel to deal with it, and also reviewed the surveillance footage to investigate, and identified the 70-year-old Zhan as a serious suspect.

The police went to Zhan’s residence to arrest him and seized a screwdriver used for vandalism in his residence. He claimed that he committed the crime in order to study the seconds of traffic lights.

According to the police investigation, the police have recently received frequent reports that people claim that the signal light cables on the sidewalks near Tianmu West Road often fall, which affects the surrounding traffic.

The police in the jurisdiction arrived immediately, but found signs of vandalism, so they checked the monitor screen and followed the line to locate a man surnamed Zhan who lived nearby.

At about 3 o'clock in the afternoon yesterday, the police followed the line to Zhan's residence to search for him. The police seized a screwdriver used in the crime in his residence.

Zhan claimed that he opened the hole cover of the signal pole to find out whether there was electricity in the place and to study the seconds of traffic lights. The police saw that his words were outrageous and reprimanded him on the spot.

According to the police, Zhan allegedly damaged 6 traffic signal poles and 4 street light poles with a total of 10 hole covers recently. He dismantled the relevant hole covers and discarded them on the side of the road. Public property such as the hole cover of the flag pole may cause danger to the public. The police finally sent him for crimes such as destroying public property and public danger.
