Mirabai lifted a total of 200kg (87kg snatch + 113kg clean and jerk)

World Championship:

Olympic medalist Mirabai Chanu won the silver medal at the 2022 World Weightlifting World Championship in Bogota, Colombia.

Mirabai lifted a total of 200 kg (87 kg snatch + 113 kg clean and jerk), 2 kg more than Olympic champion Hou Zhihua of China (198 kg) and another Chinese gold medalist Jiang Huihua (206 kg: 93+113) ) was 6 kg behind.

Hou Zhihui of China won the bronze medal with a total of 198 (89 kg plus 109 kg).

Mirabai's wrist problems became apparent when she struggled with an overhead lift on her second clean and jerk attempt, but she recovered quickly and lifted a personal best of 113 kg.

He had a best effort of 87 kg in the snatch event.

Mirabai won the silver medal in the clean and jerk category with an effort of 113 kg. This was Mirabai's second world medal, having earlier won gold at the 2017 World Championships with a lift of 194 kg (85 kg plus 109 kg).

She came fourth in the 2019 edition.

Olympic champion Hou looked to be working hard that day, lifting well below her personal bests of 96 kg in the snatch and 118 kg in the clean and jerk (Mirabai holds the world record at 119 kg).

As per the Paris Olympic qualifying system, a weightlifter needs to compete in two mandatory events - the 2023 World Championships and the 2024 World Cup.

The 2022 World Championships is the first qualifying event for the 2024 Paris Olympics, where weightlifting events will be reduced from 14 to 10 at the Tokyo Games.
