The Russian embassy in Berlin today denied having ties to far-right terrorist groups in Germany after a Russian woman was among those detained for allegedly plotting a coup, AFP reported.

"The Russian Embassy in Germany draws attention to the fact that Russian diplomatic and consular offices in Germany do not maintain contacts with representatives of terrorist groups or other illegal organizations," the statement said.

The German prosecutor's office detained today the Russian citizen Vitalia B. together with more than 20 people who are suspected of planning an attack on the parliament.

Authorities suspect Vitaly B. of trying to make contact between the alleged leader of the group and Russian officials.

The group that had broken up in Germany was preparing a coup d'état

There is no indication that these attempts were successful.

The Kremlin today defined the arrests as an "internal matter for Germany", BNR notes.
