Important information related to the case:

  • First victory against BJP

: This is the first time that Aam Aadmi Party has defeated BJP in any election.

Its victory in Delhi has either been against the Congress or it has only been to win the trust vote while in power.

In Punjab too, AAP won against the Congress earlier this year.

On this resounding victory, AAP's Manish Sisodia said, "Such a small party has defeated the 'world's biggest party'."

Sanjay Singh said, "BJP always used to say that AAP has defeated only Congress. Today Arvind Kejriwal has given them the answer."

  • Parallel elections

: The Delhi elections were being fought parallel to the assembly elections in two states where the BJP is in power.

AAP's slogan "Kejriwal ki Sarkar, Kejriwal ka Parshad" rivals the BJP's election line of "Modi's double engine".

Both the parties were contesting the elections in the face of their top leaders.

  • Delhi Plus:

Now the results of Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat assembly elections are going to come on Thursday.

AAP has predicted a dent in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state Gujarat.

Arvind Kejriwal has said that winning 15-20 per cent votes in Gujarat would be a big achievement for the party which completed 10 years of its existence last month.

AAP did not conduct election campaign in Himachal.

Your focus was Gujarat and MCD elections only.

  • Targeting PM Modi:

In Gujarat, Arvind Kejriwal was pitted directly against PM Modi, who held more than two dozen rallies.

It was a rare time that Kejriwal waded into this personality battle.

Especially after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he stopped campaigning directly against PM Modi.

After the victory of Punjab this year, AAP is again moving forward on its national ambitions.

Even the Aam Aadmi Party is targeting the core Hindutva vote of the BJP.

This means that a Kejriwal versus Modi contest is inevitable going forward under very different circumstances from the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

  • Street

fighting: AAP's victory at the mohalla level in Delhi means it has more work under its control.

Garbage collection was the main election issue among them.

Large stretches of roads and street lights, like primary schools, also come under the MCD.

This means Arvind Kejriwal can score more points for his "Delhi model of governance" before the big fight.

This means that there can be more wrangling between AAP and the BJP-ruled Centre.
