Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy and his wife Kateryna Kit-Sadova met with the Pope.

She presented him with a cross with a fragment of a Russian rocket.

This was reported by the mayor of Lviv.

Sadovy said that he received an offer to meet with the pontiff.

As a gift, the Sadovys chose a cross with a fragment from a Russian rocket for the Pope.

He was pulled out with the wounded 13-year-old Nastya.

"In the photo, a wooden cross is a symbol of the victory of good and truth, which is "wounded" by a fragment of a Russian rocket. Wounded, but unbreakable, like all Ukrainians. This fragment was taken from the thirteen-year-old girl Nastya. The Pope knows about this. I think everyone understood very clearly symbolism," Sadovy wrote.

Pope Francis blessed the cross and now it will travel to the churches of the world so that the faithful pray for Ukraine.

The Pope and Russia's war against Ukraine

Pope Francis stated that he was doing everything possible to prevent the Russian Federation from attacking Ukraine, but the aggressor did not listen to the words of the pontiff.

At the same time, the Pope scandalized himself with several statements about the war, saying that "not everything is so clear-cut" and that "the Russian people are humanists."

However, later Pope Francis issued the strongest condemnation of the war against Ukraine.

The pontiff mentioned the Holodomor as a genocide of Ukrainians.

The Pope also confirmed that the Vatican is ready to do everything possible to mediate and put an end to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
