The Israeli state defense company Rafael and the American arms manufacturer Lockheed Martin signed an agreement on the joint development of a high-energy laser

combat system.

Xinhua writes about it.

It is noted that the agreement provides for the development, testing and production of the system in the United States and Israel.

The future system will be based on the Iron Beam laser defense system, which has already been developed by Rafael and the Israeli Ministry of Defense, the statement added.

With a power of 100 kilowatts, the Iron Beam is intended to be an effective ground-based air defense system that will act against missiles, mines, drones and other threats by directly hitting targets with a high-energy laser.

Israel and the war in Ukraine

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, believes that

Israel can provide Ukraine with modern air defense systems

to protect the population from missile strikes.

In turn, Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog said that Israel

is ready to provide Ukraine with non-lethal weapons

.

Instead, they cannot transfer modern air defense systems, as they can fall into the hands of the Russian occupiers and be declassified.

In November,

a Ukrainian delegation visited Israel for negotiations

with representatives of the country's Defense Army (IDF) on the possibility of establishing cooperation in the field of anti-missile defense.

Military expert Petro Chernyk believes that if Iran sells cruise missiles to Russia, Israel in return can provide Ukraine

with LORA operational-tactical missile complexes,

which are superior in terms of ATACAMS characteristics and are capable of turning a turning point in the war.
