December 6, 2022 - Tuesday.

286th day of the war in Ukraine.

What a church holiday today, December 6

According to the religious calendar, December 6 is

the day of memory of Saint Amphilochius of Iconium

.

He was the bishop of Iconium and a friend of Gregory the Theologian and Basil the Great.

He is considered one of the Church Fathers.

He was born in an Orthodox and rather pious family in Cappadocia (Asia Minor).

In his youth, he dreamed of becoming a lawyer, but later he still decided to leave the worldly life and devote himself to serving God.

He lived most of his life in the desert, where he grew various vegetables for his needs.

In 374, he was elected bishop of the city of Iconia.

During that period, he convened the Iconium Synod, at which he condemned the Macedonian heretics who denied the divinity of the third Person of God.

The saint wrote a separate work on this topic.

He also fought against the Arians.

For faithfulness to God, Amfilochius received the gift of healing through prayer.

  • low clouds are floating in the sky - wait for the cooling;

  • On December 6, there are dim and pink rings around the moon, which means that frost will soon begin;

On December 6, our ancestors usually had a lot of fun: they sang, walked, played, organized parties with pies and beer.

And all because the sled path was finally being established.

Those who went to war were also honored on this day.

Mothers made special charms for their sons to protect them on the battlefield.

The words must be said over the cloth: "

I gave birth to you, I caressed you and nurtured you, I didn't sleep well at night, I lived my life.

I will always be with you, no trouble will happen to my son.

I will take away with my hands, I will speak with words, I will protect from the bayonet and the bullet

.

Then it had to be sewn into any of the son's things.

Also, on December 6, women predicted good relations with their husbands.

They prepared tea and said over it: "

I am not asking for much, I am only praying for order in the family."

So that our relations were pure, we did not offend each other.

Amen

."

The man was given tea to drink.

Armed Forces Day

is celebrated in Ukraine on December 6

.

Today, it is very important to support all the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who stood up for the protection of their native Motherland from the beginning of the full-scale war.

It is believed that the Ukrainian army began to revive in 2014, when there was a need to quickly confront Russian aggression after the illegal annexation of the Crimean peninsula and parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Then, in a short period of time, they restored the quantitative composition of the army and saturated it with modern types of weapons.

During this period, the state received special support from volunteer organizations.

However, the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was celebrated for the first time in 1992.

Let's not forget to thank the Armed Forces every day for the fact that fearless soldiers and women soldiers defend our land.

On December 6, the world celebrates

the birthday of Santa Claus

.

Although he is not very close to our culture, modern Ukrainian children learn a lot about him from cartoons and foreign fairy tales.

It is interesting that the prototype of Santa Claus was Saint Nicholas, who brings gifts to children in the Netherlands.

After migrating to North America, the immigrants took their traditions with them.

However, it was difficult for the natives to pronounce the saint's name correctly, so it gradually transformed into Santa Claus.

On December 6, the world also celebrates

the birthday of the microwave oven

.

It was invented by the American Percy Spencer, who was an engineer.

Once a man drew attention to the fact that ultra-high-frequency waves can heat products.

Then Percy was standing there with a lamp that generates microwaves and a magnet.

There was a chocolate in his pocket, which began to melt quickly.

The inventor received a patent for a device that cooks food using microwaves in 1945.

And already in 1949, the world saw the first Raytheon microwave oven.

At that time, the equipment was very bulky and heavy (size 183 cm, and weight - 340 kg).

Therefore, it was then used only in the army.

But the microwave oven familiar to us appeared in Japan (the Sharp company) in 1962.
