New Delhi:

Saket Gokhale, the national spokesperson of the Trinamool Congress and close to Mamta Banerjee, was arrested by the Gujarat Police on Monday from Jaipur Airport in Rajasthan.

Gokhale is accused of spreading false news about Prime Minister Modi on the Morbi incident.

The information about the arrest has been given by his party colleague and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien.


TMC leader Derek O'Brien told that Saket Gokhale had reached Jaipur by taking a flight from New Delhi at 9 pm on Monday night.

Gujarat police arrested him as soon as he landed here.

Late at 2 o'clock in the night, he informed his mother about the arrest on the phone.

Also told that the Gujarat Police is taking him to Ahmedabad.
