The Ministry of Defense (MoD) is seeking penalties and reimbursement of nearly BGN 7 million paid for the construction of a field camp on the territory of the Ministry's training ground "Koren" near the village of the same name in Haskovo.

This was stated in the response of the ministry to BTA's inquiry.

In 2020, the intention was to build a base for about 600 people at the military training ground with over 130 bungalow-type buildings, a canteen, a tactical-operational center and purification facilities.

The idea of the project was to create more modern conditions for the residence and work of the military units of the MoD, which use the range for their planned tactical-operational, command-staff exercises and shooting maneuvers.

The large-scale terrain has hosted international exercises more than once.

The landfill was established in 1962.

Actions have been taken in the Ministry of Defense to pay the penalty due for delay and refund the amount paid, by sending a notary invitation to the contractor, the press center of the Ministry of Defense writes.

Given the fact that he did not fulfill his obligations under the contract and did not comply with the terms stipulated in it, it was terminated as of July 29 of this year, the MoD specifies.
