Hungary vetoed the European Union's (EU) approval of 18 billion euro macro-economic aid to Ukraine.

APA informs that at the meeting of EU economy and finance ministers, Hungarian Finance Minister Mihali Varga announced that his country is against the said amendment.

It is planned to pay 1.5 billion euros to Ukraine every month during 2023, which will be used to reduce the ever-increasing budget deficit and maintain its economy.

It should be noted that Hungary is facing the threat of freezing 7.5 billion euros to be allocated from the common budget of the EU.

The reason for this is Budapest's inability to complete reforms related to corruption, public procurement, and activities of government officials that do not correspond to their duties.
