In Russia's Saratov region, two enemy Tu-95 strategic bombers, which the Russian Federation uses for mass shelling of Ukraine, were damaged by an explosion at the Engels airfield.

Serhii Zgurets, a military observer and director of Defense Express, reported this in his column on "Espresso".

In particular, he noted that

Russia has more than 20 such aircraft in operational condition

"According to some statements, two Tu-95MS strategic bombers were damaged as a result of an explosion at the airfield. I would like to remind you that the Russians have 60 such bombers, more than 20 of them are operational. It is these 20 Tu-95MS that are actively used to launch missiles on the territory of Ukraine," - emphasized Zgurets and added that "Engels" is a base for two aviation regiments of military aircraft of the Russian Federation.

It is also worth saying that on December 5, in addition to the explosion at the Engels

airfield, the Diaghilev military airfield

was also damaged in the Russian Federation .

According to the official version, a gasoline truck exploded there.

This airfield is also used by the Russian Federation for missile attacks on Ukraine.

The military observer and director of Defense Express notes that

Engels and Diaghilev air bases

are the only military airfields in the Russian Federation that provide full service for bombers attacking Ukraine.

That is why they are

important for the army of the Russian Federation

"In both cases, we are talking about military facilities that are located at a distance of more than 600 km from the state border with Ukraine. The Armed Forces apparently do not have such long-range weapons. However, there is one "but", - says Zgurets.

We will remind, on December 5, explosions rang out

at the Russian airfields "Diaghilev" and "Engels"

In particular, two Tu-95 missile carriers were damaged and 4 Russian occupants were killed as a result of the fall of an unidentified drone at the air base in the Saratov region.

A Tu-22M3 bomber and a fuel tanker were damaged at the Diaghilev airfield.

Also, under the wing of the Tu-22M3, a suspended Kh-22 missile is visible, which did not fly that morning to bomb the critical infrastructure of Ukraine and kill Ukrainians.

The Russian mass media said that Russian air bases were hit by the Armed Forces.

In particular, Engels in the Saratov region was struck by an allegedly operational-strategic drone BP-2 Strizh, which has a flight range of up to 1,000 km.

However, as military and civil aviation expert Valery Romanenko noted, if it was the BP-2 Strizh, then it needed to be redesigned.

Since this drone was created for reconnaissance purposes.

At the same time, Ukrainian intelligence said that only

Russia was responsible

for the explosions at its airfields.

Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, noted that this is good news, but Ukraine cannot confirm or deny involvement in this.
