Russia is not interested in a diplomatic solution to the war in Ukraine and is looking for a "fictitious way out of the situation"

This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The State Secretary reminded that the initial goal of the invasion of the Russian Federation was the destruction of Ukraine's identity as an independent state and its annexation to Russia.

However, it was the Kremlin that failed to break Ukrainian resistance.

The Russian Federation's attempt to seize as much territory as possible in the south and east of Ukraine also failed.

Now Putin is venting his anger in attacks on critical civilian infrastructure, trying to disable energy infrastructure, shut off heat, water, electricity, especially now that winter is coming in Ukraine.

According to him, the dictator is trying to freeze the conflict by refusing to negotiate on the captured territories.

Meanwhile, the Russian army will seize the moment, hold captured positions, rest, regroup, and then be able to attack again.

"Until Russia demonstrates that it is interested in serious diplomacy, it will not move anywhere. We should see a fair and durable peace, not a false peace," said the head of American diplomacy.

At the same time, Blinken assured that the United States will continue to support Ukraine.

"We are focused on continuing to do what we are doing: making sure that Ukraine has everything it needs to defend and return the territories captured after February 24," the state secretary said.

When asked whether Ukrainians will be able to return Crimea, Blinken replied that Ukrainian citizens themselves decide how to treat them.

In addition, the Secretary of State avoided answering a journalist's question about whether the United States had indeed secretly modified the advanced Himars missile launchers it had transferred to Ukraine so that they could not be used to fire long-range missiles at Russia.

It should be noted that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy demands from the Russian Federation the release of all Ukrainian territories, including Crimea and the ORDLO, which were captured in 2014.

Earlier, Blinken said that the Biden administration is working to recognize Russia as a "state sponsor of terrorism."

Negotiations with the Russian Federation: Why does the Kremlin need peace?

Earlier, the White House announced that the administration of the US president is not conducting non-public negotiations with Russia regarding Ukraine.

However, according to the Wall Street Journal, the United States is privately hinting to Kyiv about the need for negotiations.

According to Mykhailo Podoliak, adviser to the OP chairman, negotiations with Russia after a series of great military victories are tantamount to capitulation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine emphasizes that Russia is trying to buy time by announcing negotiations.

Russian opposition leader Leonid Gozman adds that the truce will allow the occupiers to regroup and attack Ukraine again with new forces.
