The US State Department commented on the explosions at Russian airfields and stated that they did not provide Ukraine with weapons that would allow it to strike on Russian territory.

State Department spokesman Ned Price said this at a briefing on December 6, commenting on the explosions at airfields in the Russian Federation in recent days.

Price noted that

no party has yet officially claimed responsibility

 for the blasts.

"From the beginning, and even before Russia's illegal, treacherous invasion of Ukraine on February 24, the United States provided Ukraine with exactly what it needed to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity," said the State Department spokesman.

He also assured that Washington did not provide Kyiv with weapons that could be used for attacks on the territory inside Russia.

Price recalled that the US "clearly stated that it was about the supply of defensive weapons."

We do not provide Ukraine with the means to strike outside its borders, we do not encourage Ukraine to strike outside its borders

. We do everything the world does to support Ukraine, its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity," said a representative of the State Department USA.

What is known about attacks on airfields in Russia

On December 5, explosions rang out in Russia at Diaghilev and Engels airfields, as a result of which two Russian Tu-95 strategic bombers were damaged.

It is from such aircraft carriers that the enemy attacks Ukraine with missiles.

In Russia, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation said that the explosions occurred as a result of an attack by drones.

They also said that four soldiers were killed.

Commenting on these attacks, the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that its government is responsible for what is happening on the territory of Russia.

Ukraine could attack Russian airbases, military expert Mykhailo Prytula thinks.

This could be done with the help of Kharkiv-made Tu-141 drones, which can fly at a distance of 1000 km.

In addition, on the night of December 6, an explosion also occurred at the airfield in Kursk.

Local authorities announced the attack by drones.
