A 53-year-old woman was hit by a car this morning on a footpath in Sliven, in the "Druzhba" neighborhood.

She was slightly injured and refused to be admitted to the hospital, stated the "Dr. Ivan Seliminski" hospital.

This is the third case since 2020 of a pedestrian being hit at this intersection, BNR informs.

The incident happened around 7:30 this morning.

The driver is a 68-year-old man.

He tested negative for alcohol and drugs.

Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.

At the same intersection between Druzhba and Mladost neighborhoods in 2020, an 83-year-old woman was killed on a crosswalk, and the relatives put black ribbons on the signs marking the crosswalks in the area.

After this incident, the municipality took measures to reduce the speed on the boulevard, the pedestrian paths were raised, and a part of them - illuminated.
