[Reporter Lin Huiqin/Report from Taipei] The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced today that the second case of H1N2v influenza virus in China was a 7-year-old girl in central China.

H1N2v is a low-pathogenic influenza virus that exists in pigs. There are occasional cases of human infection reported, but most of them are mild, because the cases have pig farms in their homes, and the infected virus is the closest to the virus strain isolated from local pigs in the past. It was judged to be a possible source of infection and has recovered.

Zhuang Renxiang, deputy director of the CDC, said that the girl had no recent travel history abroad and had a pig farm at home. On September 24, she developed symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, loss of appetite, cough, and runny nose. The screening was negative, and the rapid influenza screening was positive for type A, but the respiratory specimens isolated type A influenza virus that could not be subtyped. The hospital notified the department for further testing and gene sequencing, and determined that it was H1N2v influenza virus.

After being evaluated by a doctor, he did not need to be hospitalized. He returned home after prescribing antiviral drugs for influenza and has now recovered. A total of 6 close contacts, 2 of whom had flu-like symptoms, but no infection was found in the test.

So far in 2011, there have been at least 45 cases of H1N2v influenza virus in the world, with 41 cases in the Americas. Most of the cases have a history of contact with pigs or exposure to polluted environments, and there is no case of infection through eating meat.

Zhuang Renxiang explained that the girl’s home has a pig farm. Although no H1N2 influenza virus was detected in the samples collected from the pigs, the gene sequence of the virus isolated in the case is relatively close to the H1N2 virus strains isolated from local pigs in the past. It may be the source of infection, and it is mainly mild. Antiviral drugs such as influenza and Relenza are also effective.

The first case of H1N2v influenza virus in China was detected in April last year. It was a 5-year-old girl living in central my country. Her family was also engaged in poultry farming. However, after investigating the location of the two farms, the source of feed and pigs, and the place where the livestock were sent to slaughter The venues, transport routes, and virus genes are all different, and the CDC has determined that the two cases are not related.

Zhuang Renxiang pointed out that the agricultural administration unit and relevant medical experts were invited to hold a meeting to discuss it. According to the existing epidemiological investigation results, it should be a sporadic case. There is no evidence of human-to-human transmission. The health and agricultural administration units will continue to strengthen human, animal and environmental monitoring.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also reminded that to prevent the new type A influenza, you should abide by the "5 Dos and 6 Don'ts" principle. Contact history, those who have long-term contact with poultry and livestock should be vaccinated against influenza, have a balanced diet and exercise properly; "6 don'ts" are not to eat raw poultry eggs or products, not to smuggle or buy meat from unknown sources, not to touch or feed poultry Livestock, do not release or discard livestock at will, do not mix raised livestock with other livestock, and do not go to places with poor air circulation or crowded places.
