The team of teachers and students from Chengdu University of Technology and the National Museum of Natural Sciences unearthed the most complete whale fossil in Taiwan's history in Hengchun. It is more than 85,000 years old and has a total length of more than 15 meters. The first large mammal fossil ever discovered.

Yang Zirui, an assistant professor at Chengda University and an assistant researcher at the Museum of Science and Technology, said that the jawbone of this whale fossil is 223 centimeters long and weighs 334 kilograms. It is initially speculated that it may be a "blue whale" or a "big fin whale".
