This year, the number of households in Montana that receive energy subsidies for heating has increased compared to last year, reported the Directorate of Social Assistance in Montana, BTA reported.

For the 2022-2023 heating season, 12,827 applications for energy assistance were submitted to the Directorate, and for the 2021-2022 season - 12,039 applications.

10,578 households were approved for the current season, and 9,305 households for the previous season.

2,249 people were refused this year, while last year – 2,734 people.

The main reason for the refusal in both years is that the average monthly income of the person or the family is above the defined income for heating, and in some cases the reason for the refusal is lack of registration at the Labor Bureau.
