Ambassador to Guatemala Zheng Licheng (right) received the "Orden del Quetzal en Grado de Gran Collar" (la Orden del Quetzal en Grado de Gran Collar) from Guatemala President Alejandro Giammattei before leaving office at the end of November.

Zheng Licheng will return to China to serve as the director of the Latin America Department.

[Reporter Lv Yixuan/Taipei Report] The foreign ministry has recently adjusted several important positions in the Latin American system. Zheng Licheng, Ambassador of Guatemala, returned to China to serve as the director of the Latin America Department.

Xie Miaohong was stationed in New York and Miami, and served as a ministerial representative of Ecuador and ambassador of El Salvador. He took office as the director of the Department of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in June last year, and will go to Argentina again in one and a half years.

Cao Lijie was the ambassador of St. Kitts and Nevis and Panama, and was cut off diplomatic relations with Panama less than a month after he arrived in Panama.

After that, he will serve as the representative of Peru, the permanent representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the representative of Argentina in April 2021.

Zheng Licheng has been sent abroad to Honduras, Costa Rica, Spain, and Nicaragua. In 2016, he served as the ambassador of Ecuador. In September 2019, he served as the ambassador of Guatemala.

Zheng Licheng spared no effort to promote the relationship between the two countries during his tenure in Gua. Before leaving office, he was awarded the highest honor of the National Bird Medal by the President of Gua.
