In Visakhapatnam, the police have found the severed body parts of a woman.

Hyderabad:

Several similar cases have been reported from across the country after Aftab Amin Poonawalla was arrested last month for allegedly killing his live-in girlfriend Shraddha Walkar in Delhi and chopping her body into 35 parts.

In the latest incident, body parts of a woman have been found in a drum kept in a locked rented house in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

Police suspect that the body was lying there for more than a year.

The body parts of the woman were found when the owner of the house broke open the door when the tenant did not pay the rent.

Visakhapatnam City Police Commissioner C. Srikkanth said, "The above case came to light from Maduravada in Visakhapatnam today, when the landlord forcefully entered the house to remove the articles present in the house."

C. Srikanth said, "In June 2021, the tenant vacated the house without paying the dues citing his wife's pregnancy, but it is said that he came home once through the back door."

However, the rent was not yet paid to the landlord.

After waiting for more than a year, the owner today forcefully entered the house to remove the tenant's belongings when body parts of a woman were recovered in a drum."

Police said that preliminary evidence suggests that the body was cut into pieces a year ago, which has now been discovered.

Srikant said, "We suspect that it could be the wife of that tenant. The landlord has given a complaint, on the basis of which the case has been registered."
