[Reporter Lin Huiqin/Report from Taipei] Cases of emerging variant strains of Wuhan pneumonia (new coronavirus disease, COVID-19) continue to appear in China. Last week, local cases completed virus sequencing, and an additional case of BQ.1 and 2 cases of BA. 2.75, all of which were repeated infections. At the same time, 1 case of XBB, 3 cases of BQ.1, and 2 cases of BA.2.75 were newly detected from overseas.

Luo Yijun, deputy head of the medical response team of the Central Epidemic Command Center, said that BQ.1 is currently rising rapidly internationally, and it is speculated that it has a better chance of becoming the next mainstream strain, but it remains to be seen and cannot be completely determined.

In terms of local cases, Luo Yijun explained that 71 cases were sequenced last week, including 1 case of BQ.1 and 2 cases of BA.2.75, accounting for 3% and 1%.

However, BA.5 was still detected in 66 cases overall, and 93% was the highest, showing that BA.5 is still the mainstream in China, with 29 males and 37 females, ranging from less than 5 years old to over 90 years old, and the distribution is as follows: 36 cases in the north, 6 in the center, 20 in the south, and 4 in the east were confirmed from September 16 to November 23 this year.

The remaining 2 cases were BA.2.

Among them, one case of BQ.1 was a female in her 70s in the north. She was diagnosed with the new crown on October 5, and went to the doctor on November 18 with a cough. Once diagnosed with the new crown, cough, runny nose, sore throat on November 17, positive PCR diagnosis on the 19th, and a man in his 30s in the middle of the country, who was diagnosed with the new crown on November 1, muscle aches and respiratory symptoms on the 21st, positive PCR diagnosis .

In terms of overseas immigration, 11 cases were sequenced last week, including 9 males and 2 females, aged between their 20s and 60s, and the date of entry was between November 14 and November 19 this year.

Among them, 1 case of XBB was detected imported from Singapore, 2 cases of BA.2.75 were imported from Thailand and Vietnam, 3 cases of BQ.1 were imported from Turkey, the United States and the United Kingdom, 5 cases of BA.5 were detected, 2 cases were imported from Thailand and Germany, 1 Cases immigrated from the United Arab Emirates, accounting for 9%, 18%, 27%, and 46%.

Luo Yijun mentioned that at present, BA.5 is the mainstream regardless of whether it is local or overseas, which shows that the advantages of BA.5 have not changed, and the emerging mutant strains have not yet become the mainstream, and the proportion of locals has not exceeded 10%. Weeks have ebbed and flowed, and it's still uncertain who will be the next major strain.

This year, 16 cases of XBB, 4 cases of BF.7, 12 cases of BQ.1, 1251 cases of BA.5, 104 cases of BA.4, 83 cases of BA.2.75, and 83 cases of BA.2 were detected in overseas immigration this year. 1028 cases; local cases are 1 case of XBB, 1 case of BF.7, 3 cases of BQ.1, 1391 cases of BA.5, 5 cases of BA.4, 5 cases of BA.2.75, 5 cases of BA.2 2532 cases.
