The Russian occupiers want to seize the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk region not from the point of view of strategy, but from the point of view of symbolism.

The commander of the Ground Forces, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrsky, said this on the air of the telethon.

"Militarily, Bakhmut has no strategic significance. But next to it, it has a psychological significance. Because after a series of losses that the enemy suffered in Kherson, Kherson region, and before that it was Kharkiv region, Liman, it will be symbolic for them. Therefore, he is trying in any way to capture the city, break through the defenses and thus motivate his personnel, raise the level of their moral and psychological state," says the colonel-general.

According to him, the occupiers have not stopped trying to capture Bakhmut for several months, despite the strong resistance of the Armed Forces and losses among their personnel.

"There were already 6 or 7 terms when they were supposed to capture the city, but every time our soldiers foiled these plans with their heroic work. And during all this time, the enemy advanced to a maximum of 5 kilometers," Oleksandr Syrskyi said.

We will remind that in Donetsk region, the occupiers are trying to capture the city of Bakhmut.

The invaders lose a lot of people and equipment, but they do not stop trying to capture the city.

A military expert believes that after breaking through the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Bakhmut area, the Russian Armed Forces will enter an operational space that will allow them to further advance on Sloviansk and Kostiantynivka.
