Magomedali Magomedov, the former chairman of the State Council of Dagestan, died at the age of 92.


The Russian bureau of APA reports that the current head of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov, informed about this on the "Telegram" channel.

"Honorary chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Dagestan, a true patriot and wise man of Dagestan and Russia, Magomedali Magomedovich Magomedov, has passed away," said Melikov.

It should be noted that Magomedali Magomedovich Magomedov was born on June 15, 1930 in the village of Levashi of the Dagestan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.


Since 1979, he has worked in the government of the republic, first as the deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Dagestan MSSR, and since May 1983 as the chairman of the Council of Ministers of the republic.


In 1987, he was elected the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Dagestan MSSR, and in 1994, the Chairman of the State Council of Dagestan.


In 2006, after a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, he announced his early resignation.
