The howitzers were delivered along with ammunition, the Ministry of Defense said last night.

At the end of November, Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anushauskas announced on Twitter that the two howitzers were being repaired in the country.

Since the summer, a combat vehicle repair center has been operating in Lithuania, created by two large German arms manufacturers - "Kraus-Maffay Wegmann" and "Rheinmetall".

Lithuania has already repaired six howitzers, Anushauskas said.

The Ministry of Defense announced that around 2 million euros had been allocated for the repair.

Lithuania will increase its defense spending to 3% for 2023.

The two returned howitzers were originally supplied by Germany and the Netherlands as military aid to Ukraine, which has been defending itself against the Russian invasion since February.

Ammunition comes from the Lithuanian Army, which also uses this type of howitzer.

In November, the Security Council of Lithuania decided to deliver the ammunition to Kyiv.
