In the coming months, the pace of hostilities at the front in Ukraine will decrease.

This was stated by the Director of National Intelligence of the USA, Avril Gaines, Reuters reports.

"We are already seeing some deceleration in the pace of the conflict, and we expect that that will probably be what we see in the coming months," she said.

Gaines suggested that both the Ukrainian and Russian militaries will try to rebuild and resupply to prepare for a counteroffensive after winter, but there is "a fair amount of skepticism as to whether the Russians will actually be willing to do that."

According to her, the prospects for Ukraine are more optimistic.

Answering a question about the consequences of Russian attacks on Ukraine's power grid and other civilian infrastructure, Gaines noted that Moscow's goal was partly to undermine Ukrainians' will to resist.

"I think we don't see any evidence that this (Ukrainians' refusal to fight. - Ed.) is happening," concluded the head of the US National Intelligence Service.

Earlier, Euryl Gaines said that Putin is surprised by the results of the war in Ukraine and may reduce the goals of his "special operation".

What will the war be like in winter

Earlier, the former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, General Mykola Malomuzh, said that winter will be a period of active hostilities, and the Armed Forces will be able to conduct an offensive operation.

Military expert Petro Chernyk, on the other hand, believes that in the winter at the front, everything will turn into long-term artillery duels.

He urged Ukrainians not to raise the bar of expectations too high.

Russians themselves recall the experience of 1812 and 1941, hoping for "General Winter".

The occupiers are sure that the cold season will be more profitable for them, and not for the Armed Forces.
