Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov sharply reacted to the words of French President Emmanuel Macron, who the day before said that the West should consider how to satisfy Russia's need for "security guarantees" if President Vladimir Putin agrees to negotiations on ending the

war

in Ukraine.

"Terrorist countries and murderers want to provide security guarantees? Instead of Nuremberg, sign an agreement with the Russian Federation and shake hands? Ukrainian blood on Putin's hands will not interfere with business as usual? Strange logic of under-the-counter diplomacy, the time of which is over. The question is to guarantee the safety of the world from the so-called . Russia, not the other way around. The experience of Budapest is useful to you. When you are unarmed, you are not a threat. We know, unfortunately. A denuclearized and demilitarized so-called Russia is the best guarantee of peace for Europe and the world. The only guarantee is humanism of the European judicial system, after the verdict in The Hague, the death penalty is not provided for," Danilov wrote on his Facebook page.

It will be recalled that French President

Emmanuel Macron

believes that Russia should have a "guarantee" in the future security structure in Europe.

He stated this in an interview with the French TV channel TF1.

He emphasized that Moscow should have its own "security guarantees" when it returns to the negotiating table.

At the same time, the French president is sure that the decision to hold negotiations between Russia and Ukraine should be made by Kyiv.

"Do you think that when we were going through the trials related to Alsace and Lorraine, we would have wanted a world leader to tell us to do this or that? And here, too, it is up to the Ukrainian people to decide for themselves, and not for us, to decide which conditions, how and when (to hold negotiations with the Russian Federation), — Macron commented.

He also announced his plans to call Russian dictator Vladimir Putin again, but after speaking with IAEA Director General Raphael Grossi, with whom he said France is already working to protect the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

Earlier, Macron expressed the opinion that peace

talks between Ukraine and Russia

 are still possible.

According to the French president, Putin "made a mistake" when he unleashed a full-scale war against Ukraine.

After the meeting between Macron and Biden on December 1, the American president said that he and his French counterpart are determined to

hold Russia and Putin accountable

for his "war with the rest of the world."

According to the adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mykhailo Podoliak,

the main task of the Kremlin today

- to ask for negotiations, a cease-fire, in order to obtain an operational pause for the recovery of troops and a guarantee of the absence of counterattacks by the Armed Forces.
