This is reported by UNICEF Ukraine.

During this period, the baby does not need any other food or drink, in particular water.

Even in a hot, dry climate, breast milk fully satisfies the child's need for liquid.

Water up to 6 months can harm the baby.

It fills the child's stomach and creates a false sense of satiety.

Because of this, the baby will not ask for the breast and will not receive the necessary calories and nutrients from mother's milk.

It is also difficult to guarantee the safety of drinking water and the cleanliness of the dishes from which the baby is fed.

From 6 months, offer the child a small amount of water - start with a teaspoon or a tablespoon.

Mother's milk should remain the main source of liquid for the child.

The norm of water for a baby of 6-12 months is 120-240 ml per day.

Do not add sweeteners to water.

Do not give your child water from untested sources.

Teach your child to drink from a cup.
