Russia will benefit from a temporary agreement with Ukraine and Western countries.

After all, in this way, Russian President

Vladimir Putin

is trying to create a pause in hostilities, which will allow him to strengthen the Russian army for future operations to achieve maximalist goals in Ukraine.

This is stated in the report of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

"The Kremlin likely intends to create a dynamic in which Western officials offer pre-emptive concessions to the Russian Federation in the hope of persuading Russia to begin negotiations without demanding significant prior concessions in return. The Kremlin has also maintained its vagueness about the subject of the talks, presumably to persuade the West to begin the process without a clear definition of whether a ceasefire, a peace process or a final peace agreement is being negotiated," ISW said.

Analysts believe that Putin's rhetoric indicates that he is not interested in serious negotiations with Ukraine and maintains maximalist goals regarding the war.

What is known about the probable negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation

Earlier, the White House announced that the administration of the US president

is not conducting private negotiations with Russia regarding Ukraine

This is how the USA commented on Sullivan's talks with Putin's advisers.

However, according to the Wall Street Journal, the

United States is privately hinting to Kyiv

 about the need for negotiations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine explained that Russia is trying to

 buy time by announcing negotiations.

Russian oppositionist Leonid Gozman also believes that after the armistice, the Russian army can regroup and

attack Ukraine again with new forces.

According to Mykhailo Podoliak, adviser to the head of the OP, the West's efforts to bring Ukraine to the negotiating table after a series of major military victories are

 tantamount to asking for surrender.

Russians are increasingly

asking about the reasons for the war against Ukraine

and do not feel optimistic about their future - this is evidenced by the results of a poll in the regions of the Russian Federation, conducted at the request of the Kremlin.
