MCD Elections 2022: Votes will be cast for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD Elections) tomorrow, Sunday, December 4.

By the way, apart from the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress are also in the fray, but the main contest is likely to be between the BJP and the AAP.

Counting of votes will take place on December 7.

10 things related to MCD Elections

  • Polling will start at 8 am in all the 250 wards of MCD and end at 5:30 pm.

    The BJP has been in power in the MCD since 2007 and is trying to come to power for the fourth time. 

  • Both the BJP and AAP have fielded 250 candidates, while the Congress is contesting only 247 seats.

  • The Delhi State Election Commission has set up 13,638 polling stations for the MCD elections. 68 Model Polling Stations and 68 Pink Voting Centers have been set up for the quality experience of the voters.

  • Train services on all lines of the Metro will start from 4 am tomorrow i.e. 4 December, the day of polling for the MCD elections.

    Trains will run at an interval of 30-30 minutes on all lines till 6 am.

    Trains will run as per the normal Sunday timetable after 6 am

  • The commission has said that it has made elaborate arrangements for a "safe and pleasant" voting experience.

    These measures are needed to ensure that all political parties and candidates get a level playing field.

  • Talking about BJP, it is in control of MCD since 2007.

    During the tenure of 15 years, this party has seen the municipal body split into NDMC, SDMC and EDMC (2012-2022).

    The integration of all the three corporations has been done in the beginning of this year itself. 

  • A senior police officer told that ahead of the civic elections in Delhi, the Delhi Police is working round the clock to ensure any law and order situation on the day of polling on Sunday.

    Adequate security arrangements and security arrangements have been made to maintain law and order on the date of election as well. 

  • All the schools of Delhi government remained closed on Saturday for the preparation of MCD elections.

  • In the last phase of campaigning for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections, which are considered very important politically, the BJP fielded many of its central ministers and chief ministers for campaigning with full force. 

  • On Friday, the last day of campaigning, BJP leaders held over 200 public meetings and roadshows, while Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia held a 'town hall'-like meeting with 400 traders.
