The US Secretary of Defense said this on December 3 during his speech at the Reagan National Defense Forum in Sima Valley.

"Russia is targeting the civilian population and civilian infrastructure

with deliberate cruelty .

Russian forces have killed thousands of Ukrainian citizens. Russian attacks have resulted in the deaths of children, the destruction of schools and the destruction of hospitals," Austin said.

He also noted that Russia's neighboring countries are looking with growing alarm at such imperial aggression.

The minister added that the hostilities in Ukraine allowed all countries to see a tyrannical and deadly war that no one would want to experience.

It will be recalled that earlier German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Russia's victory in the war against Ukraine is unlikely, and that Moscow should not achieve its goals on the battlefield.

Later it became known that Scholz offered the West to return to its pre-war "peaceful order" with Russia and to resolve "all issues of common security" after the war in Ukraine, if Putin stops aggression against his neighbors.

And French President Emmanuel Macron stated the need for security guarantees for Russia in the future security structure in Europe when Moscow returns to the negotiating table with Kyiv.
