The district court in Kyustendil remanded two Moroccan nationals, aged 18 and 20, for attempting to cross the border illegally, the court said.

The two have been brought in by the District Prosecutor's Office as defendants for the fact that yesterday, in the area of ​​the village of Dolni Korten, municipality of Trekljano, they attempted to cross the country's border into the Republic of Serbia, without the permission of the proper authorities. 

One of the accused has no identity documents.

The other, who is 18 years old, has a foreigner's registration card, based on an application for foreign protection, issued on November 25 by the State Agency for Refugees in the village of Pastrogor, Municipality of Svilengrad.

. The decisions of the court to keep the two men in custody are subject to appeal with a private complaint and a private protest before the District Court - Kyustendil.

Since the beginning of 2022, the court has examined a total of 136 criminal cases, excluding the last one, with the subject of illegal crossing of the border.

Most cases refer to attempts to leave the country in the direction of Serbia.
