The Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva

Kristalina Ivanova Georgieva was born on August 13, 1953 in Sofia. During her secondary education, she highlighted inflationary pressure and China's economic slowdown as the main risks to Asia's economic outlook, Reuters reported.

She spoke before the ASEAN+3 economic forum in Singapore, BTA reports.

According to Georgieva, the economies of the ASEAN countries are a "ray of hope" for the world economy with an expected growth of 5 percent this year and slightly less next year.

However, she pointed out that the outlook is "extremely" uncertain and under the influence of risk factors such as the ongoing war in Ukraine, the tightening of global financial policy and the slowdown in economic growth in China.

According to her, the country's authorities must carefully calibrate their anti-covid strategy to limit its impact on the economy, as this is essential to sustain growth and recovery.

Georgieva also pointed out that inflation may still cause problems in Asia, since this year it will probably average around 4 percent, but will continue to rise.
