Ukraine has every right to reconquer and return its territory by military means, in particular the temporarily occupied Crimea.

This was stated by the former foreign policy advisor to the ex-chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, head of the Munich Security Conference, Christoph Heusgen, in an interview with Deutsche Welle.

"Crimea is definitely a part of Ukraine, and Ukraine has every right to recapture and return its territory. Therefore, the decision should be made by Ukraine," he said.

According to former adviser Merkel, Germany saw from the example of the Minsk Agreements that efforts to resolve conflicts with Russia through diplomatic means have no results.

"Germany tried to solve the problems we had with Russia during its first invasion in 2014 and 2015 by diplomatic means. We tried to reach a diplomatic solution with the help of the Minsk agreements," he recalled.

Christoph Heusgen emphasized Russia's responsibility for the deaths of tens of thousands of people in Ukraine, comparing Russian aggression with the actions of the Russian army in Chechnya.

"Just look at Mariupol, how they destroyed it! They destroyed it just like Grozny. So we must provide comprehensive support to the Ukrainians, and if Ukraine can return Crimea, it must be supported," he summarized.

We will remind you that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that he will support Ukraine in the fight against the aggressor Russia until the victory in the war.
