The Minsk City Court announced the sentences of former Belteleradiocompany journalist and freelance correspondent of the Kazakh TV channel "Khabar 24"

They were accused of "discrediting Belarus", as well as "active participation in group actions that grossly violate public order".

As a result, as "Viasna" reports, judge Natalia Buguk appointed:

  • Dmitriy Luksha — 4 years of prison under the general regime and a fine of 500 basic rubles (16,000 rubles);

  • Polina Palavinka — 2.5 years of prison under the general regime and a fine of 100 basic rubles (3,200 rubles);

  • Denis Yarovsky - 1.5 years of prison under the general regime and a fine of 100 basic rubles (3,200 rubles);

  • Konstantin Nikonorov - 3 years of "home chemistry" and a fine of 100 basic rubles (3,200 rubles).

Dmitry and his wife Polina are accused of Part 1 of Art.

342 of the Criminal Code ("active participation in group actions that grossly violate public order") and art.

369-1 of the Criminal Code ("discrediting Belarus").

Konstantin Mikanorov is indicted only under Art.

369-1 of the Criminal Code.

According to the indictment, in order to discredit the country, Luksha, with the help of a cameraman, produced a number of video clips containing false information in advance:

"On his instruction, the wife, hiding her face, called herself a citizen of Syria, who allegedly lives in a makeshift camp in Belarus.

She voiced a pre-prepared text with false information about the non-fulfillment of migrants' rights, failure to meet their basic needs, lack of water and food, while Luksha confirmed that he had personally observed these violations."

"On the video filmed abroad, which demonstrated the shortage of goods and currency, Luksha added his voice-over, and at the same time said that the story showed the situation in Belarus."

Luksha worked as a part-time correspondent of the Kazakh TV channel Khabar 24.

Luksha, Polovinka and Yarovsky are in custody.

Denis's wife Anastasia did not appear at the court.

Dmitriy Luksha

was detained after a search of his apartment in Minsk this year on March 11.

Previously, he worked for many years at the Belteleradiocompany, was the host of the "Zone X" program.

At the time of his detention, Dmitri worked as a part-time correspondent of the Kazakh TV channel "Khabar 24", the reason for his detention was his last story on the channel.

Polina Palavinka was

detained on June 2.
