[Reporter Liu Binquan/Nantou Report] The 115K Wanggao section of the New Zhongheng Highway on the Provincial Highway 21, the 2018 earthquake caused instability of the slope and rocks, and the traffic was repeatedly blocked by collapses due to heavy rain. Directly avoiding the collapsed road section, the tunnel costing 320 million yuan was completed this month and is expected to open to traffic on the 9th.

The New Zhongheng Highway is an important sightseeing axis for Nantou to and from Yushan Tataga, as well as Sun Moon Lake, Chiayi Alishan and other scenic spots. After the Wanggao Tunnel is opened to traffic, it is expected to provide a safe and stable access road for local people and tourists.
