"British Labor won a historic victory," commented the Sky News news agency.

"The candidate fielded by the main opposition party, Samantha Dixon (pictured) has won the MP election for the west city of Chester. She won the seat in the House of Commons (London's lower house of parliament) with the support of 17,309 people or 61% of the actual ballots,” the media outlet added.  

"The contender of the ruling Conservative Party, Liz Waldrow, received 6,335 votes (24%)," the agency also pointed out.

"Dixon's victory was due to a spillover of votes from the governing to the opposition. This was caused by the scandals that led to the resignation of Prime Minister Boris Johnson

The by-election in Chester was triggered by the resignation of Conservative Christian Matheson.

He was forced to leave the House of Commons after he was caught in unacceptable sexual behavior towards a young colleague of his in Parliament.
