Actress Swara Bhaskar along with former Congress President Rahul Gandhi joined the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain on Thursday and urged people to join the campaign.

Congress's Twitter handle shared Bhaskar's picture with Rahul.

Swara is known for voicing her views on various contemporary issues.

The actress also 'retweeted' the Congress party's tweet.

Sharing pictures of the yatra with Rahul Gandhi, Swara tweeted, "Today I joined the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' and took a walk with Rahul Gandhi.

Earlier, celebrities from television and cinema like Amol Palekar, Sandhya Gokhale, Pooja Bhatt, Riya Sen, Sushant Singh, Mona Ambegaonkar, Rashmi Desai and Akanksha Puri have joined the yatra.

Hollywood actor John Cusack has also supported this walk on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reacted strongly to Swara Bhaskar's participation in the yatra, calling her a person with an "anti-national mindset".

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister and BJP leader Narottam Mishra lashed out at the yatra over Bhaskar's participation.

He said, “Participation of people with anti-national mindset like Swara Bhaskar and Kanhaiya Kumar belonging to Tukde Tukde gang in Bharat Jodo Yatra has proved that this yatra is being taken out in support of those people who are fighting for the country. want to break it.

The 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi resumed from Ujjain on Thursday morning after a day's rest and reached Agar Malwa, the last district of Madhya Pradesh.

Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat, senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh, former MP Premchand Guddu, former president of All India Mahila Congress Shobha Ojha were also seen participating in the yatra with Rahul Gandhi.

The yatra started at around 6 am from RD Gardi Medical College, located on the outskirts of Ujjain.

The yatra led by Rahul entered Madhya Pradesh on November 23 from Bodarli village in Burhanpur district, known as the "Gateway to the South", after passing through Maharashtra.

This yatra will cover a distance of 380 kilometers in the Malwa-Nimar region of western Madhya Pradesh within 12 days, before entering Rajasthan on December 4.

In Madhya Pradesh, the yatra has so far passed through Burhanpur, Khandwa, Khargone and Indore districts.

Assembly elections are to be held in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh next year.

During the visit, Rahul Gandhi visited the famous Lord Mahakal temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in the country, in Ujjain on Tuesday.

Earlier, he had offered prayers at another Jyotirlinga Omkareshwar temple in Khandwa district.
