December 1, 2022 - Thursday.

The 281st day of the war in Ukraine.

What a church holiday today, December 1

According to the religious calendar, December 1 is

the day of remembrance of the holy martyrs Plato and Romanus

.

They suffered for their faith in the 4th century.

Little is known about their lives.

According to legend, Plato was the brother of the martyr Antiochus.

He was born in a pious family, where he received a very good education at that time.

Together with his brother, he began to preach the Christian faith at a young age.

Plato often met with pagans, told them about Christ and tried to convert them to his faith.

At that time, the emperor Agrippina ruled, who was known for his intolerance towards righteous Christians.

He heard about Plato and ordered his arrest.

There Plato was tortured to deny his words.

However, he refused, for which he was killed.

Saint Roman also accepted martyrdom for the Christian faith.

This happened during the reign of another emperor - Maximilian.

Roman was a deacon in the city of Caesarea.

One day he met a bishop who was hurrying to a pagan festival.

The novel began to convince him to take the true path.

He refused and ordered to punish Roman.

Another Christian - Varul - passed by them.

The latter did not want to stay away and stood up for Roman.

They were both arrested and then killed.

What a day today is in Ukraine and the world

On December 1, Ukraine celebrates

the Day of Prosecutor's Office employees

.

This is a national professional holiday (although without a day off), so do not forget to congratulate everyone who works in this field of activity.

The event was introduced by the president in 2000, and the date of the celebration was chosen in honor of the adoption of the Law "On the Prosecutor's Office" (1991).

An interesting fact

- something similar to the modern prosecutor's office existed in the 6th-4th centuries BC.

In the Northern Black Sea region, there were so-called nomophilaks who monitored the implementation of laws and human behavior.

December 1 is

World AIDS Day

.

Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is a late stage of infection caused by HIV (human immunodeficiency virus).

The virus works by making the immune system very weak and unable to fight tumors or certain infections.

If HIV is treated correctly and quickly, people will not develop AIDS.

Currently, about 38 million people are HIV-infected on the planet.

Therefore, the main goal of this day is to spread information about the disease.

Antarctica Day

is also celebrated on December 1

.

The date is not chosen by chance.

It was on the first day of winter that twelve countries of the world signed the Antarctic Treaty in Washington, which prevents its militarization and ensures the continent's sovereignty.

The holiday was started in honor of this event in 2010.

December 1 is celebrated

as Neurologist's Day

.

This is not an official holiday, but it is quite popular, so do not forget to congratulate those who work in this field.

Neurology as an independent discipline emerged as early as 1860.

And before that, she was a part of pediatrics and psychology.
