Roberto Martinez, head coach of the Belgian national football team, has resigned.

Apasport.az reports that the Spanish coach announced his resignation after the goalless match against Croatia in the III round of the World Cup group stage.

However, he said that he made this decision before the tournament.

The 49-year-old coach has been coaching the team since 2016.

During his leadership, the Belgian national team led the FIFA ranking for 3 years.

It should be noted that Belgium, one of the opponents of the Azerbaijan national team in the qualifying round of the European Championship, took the 3rd place in the group and bid farewell to the World Cup early.
