An event was held in Baku on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Romania, as well as the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Romania and Azerbaijan.
APA informs that the Ambassador of Romania to Azerbaijan, Vasile Soare, who opened the event with his opening speech, expressed his satisfaction to be the second country after Turkey to recognize the independence of Azerbaijan.
He said that Romania has been and continues to be an honest friend, partner and supporter of Azerbaijan in its efforts aimed at achieving a peace, stability and security environment in the South Caucasus by normalizing relations with all its neighbors based on the principles of international law.
"Since the beginning of 2022, we have been actively working on strengthening the political-diplomatic dialogue and intersectoral cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan, which is already bearing fruit. The work of the Joint Intergovernmental Economic Commission was resumed in June 2022. In the field of energy, Romania and Eastern Azerbaijan and Central Europe are proposing to jointly implement major projects such as the transportation of natural gas and electricity from alternative sources on the shores of the Caspian Sea of mutual interest, affecting the energy security of Central Europe. and is interested in the consolidation of the Middle Corridor connecting Asia," the ambassador added.
Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Sahil Babayev, who participated in the event as an honored guest, noted that thanks to the initiatives of our heads of state, the relations between our countries are at the highest level.
"Today, our economic and commercial relations are developing in a broad way. During the 10 months of this year, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Romania has increased 2.3 times. The amount of investment made by Azerbaijan in Romania has exceeded 100 million dollars. The companies of both countries are actively operating in each other's territory. In addition, we have extensive relations in the educational, social and cultural fields," the minister said.
