The National Assembly began work by voting on the 16 paragraphs of the Electoral Code (EC) discussed last Friday.

After that, the MPs will continue to debate the following texts from the IC.

So far, the majority in the National Assembly has voted to keep the Chuzhbina region.

The old regime for opening sections outside the country with 40 submitted applications remained, as GERB did not support their proposals to drop the "Foreign" region and to increase the threshold for opening sections after a minimum of 100 applications were submitted.

An increase in the number of applications was supported only by BSP and one MP from DPS.

Unanimously, with 220 votes "for", the deputies supported no more voting booths, replacing them with screens, as there will be for both paper and machine voting.

The majority rejected the proposal of "Democratic Bulgaria" to create census centers to count the paper ballots after the end of the election day.

The deputies also decided to continue to fill out the declarations in front of the electoral divisions.

The proposal of the PP to complete the declarations before the members of the SEC was rejected.

"We Continue the Change" requested the postponement of the debate on the Electoral Code for today, after the parliament voted on the first 16 paragraphs of the code, which were discussed in a nearly 11-hour session last Friday.

The request was made by Miroslav Ivanov (PP).

It was supported by 93 people's representatives, 122 were against.

Ivanov suggested that the parliament should continue with a draft decision to amend a decision of the National Assembly, which instructs the Council of Ministers to adopt a program for providing compensation to non-domestic end customers of electricity.

His motive was that this point is important to the people and is in sync with the society's agenda.

The parliament should start work on something that will directly affect the lives of Bulgarian citizens, Ivanov explained.

Iskren Mitev (PP): BSP returns the paper ballot, which will only benefit GERB

Yordan Tsonev (DPS) made the opposite proposal - that the deputies continue with the changes in the IC.

At the first reading, we have managed to look at almost all tax laws, so in the next 20 days or so we will be able to finally adopt all of them in a second vote, he reassured his colleague from "Continuing the Change".
