The European Union supports the diversification of Turkmenistan's gas exports to Europe.

According to the news reported by APA with reference to TASS, this is stated in the information published on the website of the European External Action Service on the results of the meeting of the European Union-Turkmenistan Joint Committee on Wednesday.

Also, the Union is interested in providing alternative trade routes connecting Europe and Asia bypassing Russia.

"The EU called on Turkmenistan to diversify its exports," the report said.

Ashgabat, in turn, "detailed the practical steps taken to maintain and further develop its role as a regional transport hub," the report said.

On November 24, the 21st meeting of the EU-Turkmenistan Joint Committee was held in the framework of bilateral events in Ashgabat in a hybrid format.

Among them, the conference "European Union strategies for the use of green energy and hydrogen and reduction of methane emissions" was held in the capital of Turkmenistan, as well as the annual Human Rights Dialogue.
