[Reporter Wang Dingchuan/New Taipei Report] A 63-year-old woman in New Taipei City has been beaten and scolded by her husband after drinking for a long time. Her children have persuaded her to move out many times. The woman has the concept of "keeping her family ugly" out of concern for her face, and avoids troubles from relatives and friends. For many years, she chose not to move, or felt wronged, and soon went home to continue living with her husband. Unexpectedly, her husband raped her again after drinking the night before. The woman couldn't bear it anymore. While sleeping, he cut his throat with a knife, stabbed his chest and killed her husband, and then surrendered to the police. The New Taipei District Prosecutor's Office applied for custody on suspicion of homicide, and the New Taipei District Court ruled to take him into custody early this morning.

It is understood that the woman surnamed Ji and her 72-year-old husband originally lived in Hsinchu, and later moved to Sanchong, New Taipei City. They were married for more than 30 years and ran a barbecue restaurant until they retired. Their children have already married and started businesses outside.

On the evening of the 29th, the woman’s husband sweared at her and beat her after drinking. At 1 o’clock yesterday morning, while her husband was sleeping soundly, the woman took a fruit knife from the kitchen and slashed her husband’s neck deeply, cut his throat, and then stabbed him five times in the chest. Quietly watched her husband die on the bed, and then called the Sanchong police station to surrender to the police.

When the police arrived, they saw the woman covered in blood and sitting quietly in the living room. The woman simply said to the police, "He (referring to the husband) is in the room." When the police dealt with it, they found the woman's antidepressant drugs in the house, and found that she had depression.

According to the police, the woman has reported domestic violence 10 times since she got married, 6 of which were in Hsinchu and 4 in New Taipei. However, after each report, the police and social workers asked her whether she would accept resettlement or appeal Domestic violence order?

The woman declined after deliberation, and did not apply for a domestic violence protection order for the first time until she reported the violence again a month ago.

But even though she applied for a domestic violence order, the woman still wronged herself and continued to live with her husband. It is not difficult to see that she chose to endure it because of the mentality of keeping her family ugly.

Facing police questioning about her husband's death, the woman admitted that she could no longer bear the domestic violence and had an emotional outburst and killed her husband. After the police questioned her, she was charged with homicide.
