The mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko warned that in the event of a blackout and destruction of the infrastructure, 3.5 million people who are currently in the capital of Ukraine will not be able to save themselves from the cold in the currently installed heating stations.

He spoke about this on Thursday, December 1, at the Kyiv Security Forum.

"In the event of a blackout and destruction of the infrastructure, a complete lack of electricity supply, water supply, drainage, heat supply, in a very short period of time the temperature in the apartments may not differ much from the outside temperature.

Now is winter, the three most difficult months," Vitaliy Klitschko reminded.

According to him, 430 heating points have been installed in Kyiv, but even increasing their number by an order of magnitude will not save all Kyivans from the cold.

"We made 430 heating points, but this is not a panacea.

Today, 3.5 million people live in the city of Kyiv.

430 heating points?

And 500 won't help, and 5,000 will be too little," Klitschko noted.

Therefore, the mayor of the capital advised the people of Kyiv to take care of the opportunity to spend difficult times with relatives and friends outside of Kyiv.

"If there is an opportunity - in the suburbs of Kyiv, with acquaintances, someone has their own houses, acquaintances, friends, please discuss the possibility of temporary stay with your friends," Klitschko addressed the residents of Kyiv.

He also urged Kyiv residents to stock up on technical and drinking water, long-term storage products, and prepare warm things.

We will remind you that a charity initiative was organized in Kyiv to place emergency aid boxes in the elevators of the capital's high-rise buildings.
