The official representative of the European Commission clarified the words of the President of the organization, Ursula von der Leyen, that Ukraine lost more than 100,000 soldiers in the war.

APA reports that the official representative of the European Commission, Dana Spitant, said in his Twitter account that Leyen meant the total number of dead and wounded soldiers in Ukraine.

"That number obtained from foreign sources should have shown the total losses, that is, the number of both dead and wounded, and should have demonstrated Russia's ruthlessness," he stressed.

It should be recalled that Ursula von der Leyen stated in her video message released today that Ukraine lost more than 100,000 soldiers in the war with Russia.

But later, the European Commission deleted the part from Ursula von der Leyen's video appeal about the loss of more than 100,000 soldiers as a result of the war in Ukraine.

The General Staff of Ukraine issued a denial and announced that the figure was not true.

The Ukrainian side last announced its losses in August, when it confirmed the death of more than 9,000 of its soldiers.
