Date of the day

World AIDS Day is an international day of the United Nations, celebrated on December 1.

It was first announced by the World Health Organization in 1988.

The day was established to raise awareness about the AIDS epidemic caused by the spread of HIV infection, as well as to commemorate the victims of this disease.

Many government, public and medical organizations around the world hold educational and diagnostic events on this day.

1943

— the Tehran conference of the leaders of Great Britain, the USA and the USSR ended.

The conference was the first meeting of the "Big Three" during the Second World War.

Military actions and the post-war international settlement were discussed there, including the opening of the second front and the "Polish question".

The conference decided, among other things, that the eastern border of Poland - respectively, the western border of Belarus - should be the Curzon line.

Rosa Parks

refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama.

For this, she was condemned as a "violation of public order".

In response, the black population of Montgomery began to boycott public transportation.

The very next year, the US Supreme Court ruled that racial segregation on buses was unconstitutional.

So Rosa Parks became the initiator and symbol of the movement for the rights of black citizens of the United States.
