The US Department of Defense signed a $1.2 billion contract with Raytheon Technologies for the production of six NASAMS air defense systems for Ukraine.

In total, the USA approved the shipment of eight NASAMS complexes to Ukraine.
The first two batches of NASAMS air defense systems were received by Ukraine in November.
These six NASAMS systems are part of the fifth package, the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which was announced on August 24.
The total cost of USAI is $2.98 billion, according to a document seen by the publication.
The contract to manufacture six new NASAMS batteries includes personnel training and logistics.
